Sacha or the great quest for statistics (29 August 2016 – 28 March 2017)
« Having just finished my baccalaureate, I needed some time to think about my direction. I wanted to help out and really enjoyed working with the children. So Peri Naua’s setting was everything I could hope for.
I found the children very touching. At first very fearful and surprised at the attention given to them, they eventually open up like little flowers, shyly revealing smiles on their radiant faces. Their sweet and sincere kindness marked me a lot, as well as their thirst and their willingness to learn which is truly remarkable. »
« Apart from the help I provided throughout the schools and the library, I was in charge of two other assignments: the first was to compile statistics for the first year of the library opening. The second, where I had much more contact with people, was an investigation into the fate of former kindergarten students.
We work with the local population, we live with them. The difference teaches us so much. I come back delighted and filled with this humanity, and full of humility. It is these smiles, this happiness and this joie de vivre that people communicate, this sparkle in the eyes of children, their tenderness and their freedom that remain in my memory. I have often said that Namibia is a beautiful country, on every level. That’s what I meant by that, that its landscapes are a reflection of its people.
This experience was incredibly rich, and has given me so much, both professionally and on a human level, and has also helped me a lot personally. To be able to take a step back and distance with certain things and devote myself to oneself, and to its missions allowed me to find myself, to discover life, and even to find my way in working with children. . So I will start my studies in Educational Sciences with the aim of becoming a school teacher. »
